History

White’s Greenhouses began as a hobby of Jim White.  Jim sold his first bedding plants in the spring of 1976.  By 1980, the hobby became the family’s fulltime business.  At that time  It consisted of 5,000 square feet and was predominantly retail.

In 1985, White’s Nursery incorporated and became White’s Greenhouses, Inc. with Jim White as President and Jim’s wife, Diane White, as Secretary/Treasurer.  The business at that time consisted of approximately 30,000 square feet of greenhouses.

Today, White’s has approximately four acres of greenhouses under poly, a double level service building and over 6,000 square feet of retail space in Godfrey, Illinois (located just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri).

In 1999, White’s opened a fully retail operation in Alton, Illinois called Seasons Garden Center.

White’s customer base includes a blend of interior and exterior plantscapers, individual florists, garden centers, and chain stores as well as residential gardeners.
